5th Grade Other Forms of Personal Boundary Violations

Other forms of personal boundary violations include human trafficking and sex trafficking. Human trafficking is when a person is manipulated, controlled and/or forced to do things without their consent. People affected by human trafficking are being used in some way to benefit someone else.

Sex trafficking is a form of human trafficking that includes forced, manipulated, and unwanted personal and/or body boundary violations.

Traffickers may target young victims through social media websites, chat features in apps or on games, after-school programs, on the streets, at shopping malls, or in clubs. Traffickers attempt to lure kids into getting what they want from them by tricking or forcing them into unsafe situations. Child lures can be used by adults, older kids, or peers – with or without using technology.

These lures can include:

Emergency lure- telling you that your parents sent them
E-lure- asking for your personal information online
Bribery lure- giving or offering gifts
Ego/Fame lure- promising fame or using flattery
Authority lure- someone holds power or authority over you
